Quality Improvement Funding Support program

Message from Education and Early Childhood Minister Serge Rousselle :

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I expect you have been hearing many messages about the changes we recently announced to the program which provides a wage top-up to employees of our province’s licensed day care centres, and I expect this may have created anxiety about the services your family has been receiving. I wanted to take a moment to clarify exactly what has been decided and what the true impact will be on funding for day care centres.

The program in question is called the Quality Improvement Funding Support program, which is commonly referred to as the QIFS. It has been suggested that we have made cuts to this program. This is completely false. In fact, we are increasing the budget for this program by $400,000 this year, to a total of $23.6 million.
