Regional Family Resource Centres

Bilingual Me, You & Music

Fredericton Regional Family Resource Centres

This program allows children to explore music through movement, dancing, singing, listening and playing with basic musical instruments. Songs are in English and French. Please call the Centre (506-474-0252) to sign up for a Me, You & Music

Francophone Playgroup

This weekly themed program offers parents/caregivers and their children the opportunity to participate in a French-speaking environment. The FRFRC offers free play, crafts, games, music, reading circle, snack and other activities depending on the weekly theme.

Encounters With Canada

Encounters With Canada Encounters with Canada is the country's largest youth forum. Each year, children aged 14-17 travel to Ottawa to participate in a week-long, bilingual program based on themes such as business and entrepreneurship, arts and culture, science and technology, politics and Canadian history. The programs are open to English and French-speaking youth, and offer a bilingual environment.

SEVEC Language and Cultural Exchanges

SEVEC

The Society for Educational Visits and Exchanges of Canada (SEVEC) offers a one to two-week exchange program for youths aged 12-17 interested in second-language or inter-cultural learning opportunities.

Writing Contests

French for the Future - National Essay Writing Contest

Students must write a 1000-word essay on an assigned topic to be eligible to win entrance scholarships to post-secondary institutions of up to $20,000.

SEVEC - Roch Carrier Essay Writing Contest

SEVEC

Roch Carrier Short Story Award is a writing contest sponsored by SEVEC open to all young Canadians aged 15 to 17 years of age. Write a 1,000 to 2,000-word story about Canada, with at least 100 words in your second language, and enter to win a free trip to Ottawa, $100 cash, and an autographed copy of "The Hockey Sweater" by Roch Carrier.
