Local Genealogy Collections in New Brunswick's
Public Libraries

Many of New Brunswick's public libraries have local genealogy collections. Here are the descriptions of our most significant local genealogy collections.

Albert-Westmorland-Kent Heritage Collection

The Albert-Westmorland-Kent Heritage Collection is a permanent collection. Its purpose is to provide a profile of the counties. In order to provide as complete a picture as possible, the collection contains material relating to history, sociology, geography, politics, literature, and culture of the area. Various types of materials belonging to the local genealogical society are also available. It is located at the Moncton Public Library.

Campbellton Centennial Library Collection

The Campbellton Centennial Library has census data, local yearbooks, as well as copies of Generations, the journal of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society.  It has an index of relevant entries from L’Évangéline (a French-language New Brunswick newspaper), microfilm for various local newspapers from 1909 to 2004, a patron’s handbook on using the Provincial Archives and much more!

L.P. Fisher Public Library Collection

The L.P. Fisher Public Library in Woodstock has created an extensive list of many key genealogy research addresses.  This index, which is a great resource, has contact information for societies and associations from the Atlantic Provinces and Canada to the United States of America, Australia, the U.K., and Europe.  It is available through the library.

Saint John Free Public Library Collection

There are many genealogy resources at the Saint John Free Public Library. Here are some:

Miscellaneous Index

The Miscellaneous Index was transferred from the New Brunswick Museum to the Saint John Free Public Library in 1982.  It contains a partial index of newspapers, scrapbooks, microfilm and vertical files that are of importance to both Saint John and New Brunswick.
