Minister's Message

Violence against women is a societal problem, and we all have a responsibility to eliminate it. The work being done around the province on the issue of violence against women is not only impressive but also very encouraging. Developing a coordinated and comprehensive response to address violence against women is central to moving forward.

Through our comprehensive action plan, A Better World for Women, we are working diligently to create awareness, streamline services, and assist women to achieve our vision:  That all New Brunswick families live in a secure and nurturing environment free of abuse and violence.

If you are a woman who has experienced abuse, a service provider, or are simply expanding your knowledge on the issue, please take the time to surf this website where you’ll find much useful information.  For instance find services for women who have experienced abuse under the Looking for Help? link on the right hand side of this page or learn about the Provincial Partnerships in Action Committee, a key mechanism in moving our action plan forward, by clicking on the first link under the appropriately named section below.

I encourage you to become involved in this issue in your community so that together we can end violence against women.

Sincerely,
Mary Schryer
Minister Responsible for the Status of Women
