This transportation service is accessible and available to
persons with severe physical disabilities who reside in the City
of Moncton. The service operates from Monday to Saturday. It is
preferable to make reservations in advance. The bus, with driver,
can also be rented to groups and individuals. Ability Transit now has three buses in operation. Services available in English and French

Able Sail is a non-profit organization offering
sailing opportunities to the disabled population of Southeast New
Brunswick. To qualify, one only has to want to sail
recreationally or to learn how to sail, and persons with any
disability are welcome. Able Sail uses an adapted
sailboat, the "Gordon McRae", with qualified non-disabled sailing
partners. The goal is to have fun, and those who may wish to sail
competitively as well may participate in the local Shediac Bay
races. They also have a single person craft called the “Michael Dunn” used for single person sailing instruction.

Acadian Coach Lines offers motor coaches, modified and equipped with a fully enclosed elevator lift. Inside the coach, two double passenger seats were redesigned to serve as individual restraints for wheelchair users or as four standard passenger seats. The two wheelchair restraint positions feature special wheelchair tie-downs.
This service is active in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia on all Acadian Coach Lines runs. Please call for inquiries and/or reservations. A minimum of 72 hours notice is required.

The Adult Day Centre is operated by the Victorian Order of
Nurses at the Brookside Mall for seniors and persons with
special needs who may live at home but require some help to
maintain their independence. Participants must be mobile,
although canes, wheelchairs or other mobility aids are
acceptable. Social activities, exercise programs, educational
activities, health supervision and counselling are available to
all participants. A small daily fee is charged, while government
funding, the Fredericton United Way and public donations also
assist in the costs. To join, individuals can be referred by
their doctor, family member or a community health worker, or they
can contact the VON office.

The Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick provides help for today, and hope for tomorrow to all people affected by Alzheimer and related diseases through the provision of support to persons with Alzheimer Disease and their family members, providing education about Alzheimer and related diseases, and by fundraising to contribute to ongoing research.
The Society offers numerous services across the province including: support groups
province-wide for people in the early stages of the disease as well as for caregivers and

sheets, and videos; maintenance of the “Safely Home” program province-wide; a 1-800
