Easter Seals New Brunswick is committed to assisting children and adults with disabilities to achieve maximum rehabilitation. This is achieved by offering direction to existing services or by using their own resources to provide help that is otherwise unavailable.

  • Clients can access rehabilitation equipment loans for long-term use. Assistance is available for special shoes and travel as well as other types of supports. A means test and application are required.
  • There is a Loan Bank of Assessment Equipment from which equipment is loaned out for a 3-week period for assessment purposes only, upon referral of a health professional. Once the assessment is complete, arrangements can be made for either a long-term loan through one of their other programs or for the purchase of the equipment through an appropriate seller.
  • There is an extensive library of information on various disabilities, rehabilitation equipment, services, etc., which is open to the public from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Speakers and films are also available on request.
  • The Polio Survivor's Program offers current information concerning the late effects of polio and maintains a registry of polio survivors.
  • The repair service conducts various types of equipment repair at their office or by accessing specialists in the field.
  • The Rehabilitation Technology Program offers information and consultation about rehabilitation technology to health professionals and persons with disabilities. The program loans specialized electronic aids for assessment or for long-term use. SlideTalk, a computer software program, was developed by this agency to enable children with severe disabilities to communicate. Also, a French and English Disability Awareness Training CD-ROM was designed to increase awareness of needs of persons with disabilities.
  • The Toy Library provides short-term loans of adapted toys for children with disabilities.
  • They are an affiliate partner of the Canadian Health Network (CHN), a national Internet-based resource that provides easy access to up-to-date, trustworthy health information. It assists with the collection of web resources specifically for people with disabilities and with the development and support of a network of organizations who work in that field.
  • Staff are available for presentations and exposés.
  • Camp Rotary runs continuous integrated sessions from mid-June until the end of August. Seventy-six campers can be accommodated per session. The camp property includes a beach area on Grand Lake, a nature trail, a paved recreation area and a heated swimming pool. The camp's therapeutic recreation program offers a wide variety of activities and the camp's aim is to "focus on ability".
