New health information privacy legislation
could apply to every health care provider, other person or health
facility that has personal health information for whatever reason.
Or, it might apply only to health care providers and facilities
that are part of the publicly funded health care system. We
need your help in deciding how far to cast the net. Examples
of individuals or entities that typically have personal health
information are:
Physicians,
pharmacists and their staff Practicing
members of all registered New Brunswick health professions and
any facility providing health care Agencies
such as the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the Canadian
Institutes of Health Research, and Statistics Canada Regional
Health Authorities and their facilities (e.g., hospitals, community
health centres) The
Minister of Health and all government departments Nursing
homes Employers
who hold some health information about their employees Non-profit
agencies that provide health care (e.g., Victorian Order of
Nurses) Private
health care facilities (e.g., private medical laboratories)
Who do you think new health information
privacy legislation should apply to?
