The Government of New Brunswick has
ordered enough H1N1 influenza vaccine for every New Brunswicker
this flu season. The vaccine will be provided free to all
New Brunswick residents, aged six months and older.
Please note: As of November 20 until
further notice, H1N1 influenza immunization clinics will be
held exclusively for:
- children aged six months to 18 years
- pregnant women
- parents of infants under six months old
- persons of Aboriginal ancestry
- persons with chronic medical conditions*
*The following subgroups of persons with chronic
medical conditions have been identified as most likely to
be hospitalized and are requested to attend clinics this week:
- Individuals with lung disease that requires
ongoing medical care, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis,
emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
or cystic fibrosis.
- Individuals with breathing difficulties
related to a physical, neurological or muscular disorder
(e.g. ALS, multiple sclerosis, quadriplegia, paraplegia).
Please note that there are no longer any age
limits for these persons and the elderly with chronic medical
conditions (aged 65 years and above) should also attend.
Regional Health Authorities reserve the right
to further limit clinics to specific priority groups, should
demand outweigh supply.
Additional immunization clinics will be held
around the province commencing the week of November 23 to
ensure that all priority groups have access to the safest
and most effective way to protect themselves from the H1N1
influenza.
Notice :
The H1N1 immunization clinics are for priority
groups only. If you are not in a priority group,
the Chief Medical Officer of Health asks for your co-operation
to ensure the most vulnerable are vaccinated first. Clinics
for the general public will begin the week of November 30.
Clinic listings are updated continually.
If you do not see a clinic that is convenient for you, please
check back in a day or two.
