The New Brunswick Translation Bureau

The New Brunswick Translation Bureau was established in August, 1967 prior to the passage of the Official Languages Act of New Brunswick in 1969. The New Brunswick Translation Bureau mandate is to provide interpretation services for the Legislative Assembly, as well as translation and interpretation services for the departments and agencies of the provincial government, thus enabling them to serve New Brunswickers in both official languages.
The Official Languages Act ensures the government fulfills its constitutional obligations under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The act also confirms the right of New Brunswickers to communicate with and receive services from the Legislative Assembly and institutions of the government in the official language of their choice.
The Translation Bureau is responsible for the translation of approximately 15 million words per year, and interpretation services.
The New Brunswick Translation Bureau is located in historic Marysville Place, on the north side of the capital city of Fredericton.
