Be Part of Creating a Modern Community College System for New Brunswick

As detailed in Be Inspired. Be Ready. Be Better. The Action Plan to Transform Post-Secondary Education in New Brunswick, New Brunswick is transforming postsecondary education to support the province’s goal of achieving self-sufficiency by 2026.

As part of this transformation, New Brunswick is creating a modern, autonomous community college system that will be independent from government and become more student focused, better equipped, more entrepreneurial and more responsive to community and labour market needs.

Two new college corporations will be created; one Anglophone and one Francophone. The New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) head office will be located in Fredericton and all NBCC Board business will be conducted in English. The Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) head office will be located in Bathurst. All CCNB Board business will be conducted in French.

Each community college will be governed by a Board of Governors, composed of up to 15 members, that is accountable to the Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. The Board of each College corporation will select a President who will be accountable to the Board.

On behalf of the Province of New Brunswick, we are inviting applications from qualified New Brunswick residents to participate as a Governor on the Board of NBCC or CCNB. As a member of the Board of Governors you will bring some combination of the skills and competencies essential to govern the organization such as a background in governance, accounting and finance, law, business management, human resources and labour relations, communications or public relations, technology, and/or project or risk management along with knowledge of current and emerging issues in education.
