Accessible Transportation

The New Brunswick Department of Transportation is a supporter of accessible transportation for persons with a disability and seniors. The department currently provides two services to increase the mobility of persons with a disability and seniors.


Vehicle Retrofit ProgramVehicle Retrofit Program

The Vehicle Retrofit Program is designed to increase the mobility of persons with a disability residing in the province of New Brunswick by providing financial assistance towards the cost of supplying and installing eligible retrofitting and accessibility features for vehicles.

Denis Landry, Minister of Transportation; Claudette McAllister, Vehicle Retrofit Program Coordinator, and Randy Dickinson, Executive Director, Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons The Department of Transportation has been recognized by the Premier’s Council on the Status of Disabled Persons for its Vehicle Retrofit Program. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the program has provided over $3 million in funding through 1,400 grants that help disabled people remain active in their communities.

Access to Travel, your special needs information source, provides information on accessible transportation and travel across Canada with the aim of making accessible travel easy and enjoyable!

Through this new Web site, New Brunswick is working with the federal government and other provinces to provide information on accessible transportation services in our province for persons with disabilities and seniors throughout the country.
