The mandate of the Arts Development Branch is to promote community cultural development in New Brunswick by providing leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of government policies, strategies, initiatives and programs supporting the arts.

The Maine-New Brunswick Cultural Initiative will offer both Maine and New Brunswick artists and arts organizations access to information which will help demystify and streamline border crossing processes, foster and enhance exchanges of cultural information, encourage collaborative cross-border cultural projects, and identify new/or expanded cross-border business and/or cultural tourism opportunities.

2011 Canada Winter Games, National Artists Program
Cynthia Aubé-Boulay, Alyson Miller and Jessie Babin have been selected as the artist members of Team New Brunswick who will take part in the National Artists Program held in conjunction with the Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Feb. 11-27, 2011.
Participating in dance (Cynthia and Alyson), and in the visual arts (Jessie), the three young New Brunswick artists will take part in a two-week mentorship and developmental artistic program during the Games.

Regional cultural development (ACT):
The Department supports the concept of regional cultural development as defined in “La Stratégie Globale”. The Department is engaged in working cooperatively with the various groups and organizations to develop an approach that meets the needs of stakeholders.
