The New Brunswick Art Bank

The New Brunswick Art Bank is a permanent collection of the visual arts in New Brunswick. Established in 1968, the Art Bank celebrates the province’s excellence in the contemporary visual arts.

Several programs of the Art Bank are outlined below.

The Acquisitions Program of the New Brunswick Art Bank

The Acquisitions Program of the New Brunswick Art Bank acquires contemporary visual art by artists from New Brunswick for display in provincial government offices. Every two years, a jury selects artwork to be purchased, based on the acquisitions budget of $40,000.

The Loans Program of the New Brunswick Art Bank

The goal of the Loans Program is to increase accessibility and visibility of New Brunswick visual artists represented in the Art Bank. Managed by the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport, the Loans Program is accessible to government departments, agencies and commissions.

Art Bank Exhibitions

Exhibitions of the artworks in the New Brunswick Art Bank are presented at art galleries throughout the province. From time to time, exhibition guides based on these exhibitions are presented online for students and teachers to use in the classroom and while visiting art galleries.
