Book and Publishing Development Program

The purpose of this Program is to encourage and support the literary arts and the growth of New Brunswick's book publishing industry. There are numerous funding components under the Program available to eligible publishers and community groups. Please read for more information on each component.

Publishers and Periodicals Operational Grant Components

The Publishers and Periodicals Operational Grant Components provide funding to eligible publishers and periodicals to help them produce and present literary works, in order to promote growth, excellence and vitality in New Brunswick's literary community.

Literary Translation Grant Component

The Literary Translation Grant Component provides funding to New Brunswick's publishing industry to assist in covering the cost associated with the translation of New Brunswick literary works into French, English, Mi'kmaq or Maliseet.

Literary Promotion Grant Component

The Literary Promotion Grant Component provides eligible New Brunswick organizations and groups, whose primary mandate is to promote books and reading, with funding to help fund large-scale activities within the province that focus primarily on the literary arts.

Independent Booksellers Technology Development Component

The Independent Booksellers Technology Development Component provides eligible independent booksellers with funding to support their adaptation or expanded use of information technology to allow them to be more competitive on the global market via e-commerce.

Funding for Publication of Aboriginal Books

Funding is available to publishers to encourage the publication of books that highlight, promote, or help preserve Aboriginal culture. Specifically, this initiative aims to provide funding to publishers to cover some of the cost of publications featuring Aboriginal art, language, themes of interest, history or stories.
