Heritage Designations in New Brunswick

Through the Heritage Conservation Act, the province is involved in a number of procedures that can result in different types of heritage designations. Depending on the level and nature of significance, places in New Brunswick may be eligible for recognition under the following types of designations:

Provincial Heritage Places and Local Historic Places are listed on the New Brunswick Register of Historic Places and on the Canadian Register of Historic Places.
