Active Communities Grant Program

The Active Communities Grant Program is funded by the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport through its Wellness Strategy to support projects and activities with an emphasis on physical activity and its benefits through new or enhanced programming in your community or region.

The distribution of the Active Communities Grant Program helps to:

  • Increase the number of opportunities available for New Brunswickers to become and stay active every day
  • Encourage and support leadership in the community
  • Promote the benefits and enjoyment of continued involvement in physical activity for all
  • Address common barriers to physical activity faced by New Brunswickers
  • Actively encourage those not already involved in participation to get active

You are eligible for the Active Communities Grant Program if:

  • Your project consists of initiatives aimed at creating and supporting opportunities to engage in physical activity and/or to promote the benefits of physical activity.
  • Your project is aimed at creating a new activity or program, or in enhancing one that already exists in the province

Funding can be spent towards the following expenses:

GO NB

GO NB - Taking Action through Sport was the second Bilateral Agreement on Sport Development between the Government of New Brunswick (Wellness, Culture and Sport) and the Government of Canada (Sport Canada). Funding provided by this Bilateral Agreement supported GO NB programs from September 2005 until its conclusion on March 31, 2008. The programs were a winning combination for participants, leaders, coaches, organizations, schools and communities. Negotiations are currently underway to secure a new Agreement. This site will be updated as soon as more information is available.
