The mandate of the Sport and Recreation Branch is to provide leadership and to support program initiatives in sport and recreation in partnership with municipalities and provincial, regional and local volunteer organizations. The Branch also encourages the participation of New Brunswick citizens and athletes in physical activity and the pursuit of excellence.

Sport Plan for New Brunswick
The Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport and Sport New Brunswick made public on October 1st, 2008 a Sport Plan which provides a vision and recommendations for the development of sport in New Brunswick.
