Discussion Paper on New Brunswick’s
Tax System released

On June 4, 2008, Finance Minister Victor Boudreau tabled a Discussion Paper on New Brunswick’s Tax System in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. The paper represents the most comprehensive review of the province’s tax system in nearly two decades.

There are two primary objectives in reviewing the tax system:

1. To ensure New Brunswickers can keep even more of their hard-earned dollars, to save, spend and invest as they choose; and,

2. To ensure that the province keeps and attracts business, investment and people by establishing a tax structure that is more competitive globally, resulting in job creation, income generation and a brighter future for New Brunswickers.

On these pages you will find the complete discussion paper, as well as the press release issued on the day it was tabled and you will also find an executive summary of the document.

A special all-party legislature committee will tour the province to receive input from New Brunswickers on this important issue. If you would like to send an email, feel free to do so using the link on the right. We want to hear from you.
