Sampling
An accurate soil analysis and recommendation depends on several variables, not the least of which is how the sample is taken in the field. Samples should be a well mixed composite representing the entire area to be analyzed. Detailed instructions are available and should be closely followed when taking soil samples.
Sampling in the fall provides the opportunity for planning and ordering lime and fertilizer required for the upcoming year. Since soil analysis results will vary with time of the year, samples should be taken at the same time each year.
