Our
Mandate:

The Office of the Superintendent of Pensions is responsible for the enforcement
of standards prescribed under the Pension Benefits Act and for the
investigation of alleged violations.
Our
Services:
-
review and register documents that create and support pension plans;
-
review documents required to be filed on a regular basis i.e. Annual
Information Returns, Financial Statements, Statements of Investment Policies
and Goals, Actuarial Valuation Reports, Cost Certificates etc.;
-
review and register prescribed retirement savings arrangements;
-
respond to complaints;
-
provide information and support to plan administrators, their agent and plan
members;
-
monitor private pension plans to ensure compliance with the Act and its
Regulations.
Our
Standards:
-
return all telephone messages within two (2) working days;
-
see you within ten (10) minutes of any office appointment made, or explain why
we are unable to;
-
acknowledge your inquiries within five (5) working days;
-
register pension plans or amendments within two (2) months after all prescribed
documents and fees have been received;
-
respond to wind-up of pension plans within two (2) months after all prescribed
documents and fees have been received;
-
register standard contracts within one (1) month, provided all prescribed
documents and fees have been received.
You

provide you with a fair and satisfactory complaint procedure if you are not
satisfied with the service you receive;

keep information confidential.
You can
help us improve our service by:

providing all documents and fees required by the Act and Regulations when
applying for registration of a pension plan, amendment or standard contract and
when you file forms with the office.
