Speech Language Pathology

Currently, the Department of Health and Wellness funds 92.6 FTE speech language pathologist positions in N.B. This number excludes resources in tertiary and Mental Health centres. Forty-eight percent (48%) provide services in hospital settings and 52% provide services in community settings such as homes, schools and nursing homes.

Speech language pathologists provide evaluation, diagnostic services and a range of intervention strategies to prevent and ameliorate speech language dysfunctions and disorders. Speech language pathologists facilitate the development, maintenance, (re)habilitation or augmentation of an individual's ability to communicate with others.
