Abstract: Timothy 1996: Eight cultivars from this trial, TM8501, Colt, AC-Alliance, RVP-03, SF8904, SF8903, SF8607-C and Comtal were superior to check varieties and as a result were supported for registration/recommendation. Annual Ryegrass 1999: Six cultivars from this trial, Magnum, Bellem, Abercomo, Ajax, Max and Fabio were superior to check varieties and as a result were supported for registration/recommendation. Corn Silage and Grain Regionals, Six new grain hybrids & seven new silage hybrids have been added to the Maritime Recommended List. New grain hybrids are Pioneer's 39W54, 39K73, 39M27; Hyland's 2020; Co-op/Novartis' N05-H2 & Dekalb's 308. Newly recommended silage hybrids are Dekalb's 308; Pickseed's ExSile; Co-op/Novartis' G-4066 and Pioneer's 39K73, 39J69, 39Y85 & 39D81. Three Pioneer hybrids (39K73, 39J69, 39M27) are Bt hybrids and have gone on the Recommended List, these offer management options for the regions with serious European corn borer infestations. Trials Established in 199: A series of regional trials were established in 1999. Seven regional variety trials of the following species were seeded at Richmond Corner on May 17; 1998 & 1999 Alfalfa, 1999 Timothy, 1999 White Clover, 1997 Perennial Ryegrass and 1997 Birdsfoot Trefoil. All trials established well. No data was collected from trials in the establishment year, data collection will commence in the 2000 growing season. Two noted exceptions were the annual ryegrass and corn regional trials, these results were summarized and reported in the Forage Evaluator's Report prepared by the Atlantic Field Crops Committee, Cultivar Evaluation Task Group.
