In February 2007, the Department of Fisheries hosted the first-ever New Brunswick Fisheries Summit. The two-day meeting concluded with the agreement that the way we harvest, process and market seafood must change. As a follow-up to the Summit, the Department has released an Action Plan for the development of a Fisheries Renewal Framework for New Brunswick. This framework will serve as a blueprint for governments and industry to set a new course for ensuring that the fishing and seafood processing industry remains a strong economic contributor to the coastal communities of New Brunswick.
