FREDERICTON (CNB) - An opportunity to serve as a member of the Agricultural Development Board is now available for New Brunswickers. Expressions of interest will be received until Friday, July 16.

"We are looking for an individual from the private sector who is committed to the sustainability of the province's agriculture industry," said Agriculture and Aquaculture Minister Ronald Ouellette.

Interested candidates must be residents of New Brunswick and have a background in farming or the agriculture industry. They must have a strong understanding of the needs of the agricultural community and possess business, financial or marketing skills.

The mandate of the Agricultural Development Board is to review financial assistance applications under the Agricultural Development Act and provide recommendations to the minister of Agriculture and Aquaculture. Members serve for terms of up to three years with the possibility of reappointment.

"Our government is committed to improving the transparency of appointments," Ouellette said. "Today, through this open process, we are calling on qualified New Brunswickers to submit their names for consideration."
