SALISBURY (CNB) - A new liquor store for the village of Salisbury opens today, bringing the total number of corporate stores in the province to 47. The store is located adjacent to the Ultramar, near the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Route 112.

The store features Alcool NB Liquor's new decor, a Centre of Discovery kiosk for product tastings, a new checkout design with refrigeration units at cash, and an exterior LED message board facing Route 112.

"Alcool NB Liquor's retail strategy includes locating stores in highly visible locations across the province, including major routes such as the Trans-Canada Highway," said Dana Clendenning, president and CEO of Alcool NB Liquor. "We hope to capture incremental sales from the considerable transient and tourist traffic that travels this major route every day."

The store has about 743 square meters (about 8,000 sq. ft.) of space, and features 1,320 products, including 550 wine and 450 spirits. The 204-square-metre (2,220-sq.-ft.) walk-in cold room offers 200 chilled beer and 120 ready-to-drink beverages. A special scotch section will feature 57 brands currently listed in the province. The store also contains a permanent liquidation centre where discounted and clear-out products are displayed.

The store employs five full-time staff and five casuals, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

"The construction of the new store is another example of how Alcool NB Liquor is to moving toward its vision of becoming a high-performance retailer, engaging employees in service excellence," said Clendenning. "The corporation is pleased to locate its newest store in this growing commercial sector."

Other Alcool NB Liquor stores located near to, and visible from, the Trans-Canada Highway are in Perth-Andover, Woodstock, Oromocto and Sackville. The Salisbury store will provide additional presence along this major route, at an intersection known to be one of the busiest in the province.

The Village of Salisbury is also served through the corporation's Agency Store Program, at The Right Stop Ltd.
