FREDERICTON (CNB) - Alcool NB Liquor has been named one of the top 25 employers in Atlantic Canada for 2010 in the Atlantic Canada's top employers competition. The competition is organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, which is published by MediaCorp Canada Inc.
"We are thrilled that Alcool NB Liquor has been recognized as one of the top 25 employers in Atlantic Canada," said Dana Clendenning, president and CEO of Alcool NB Liquor. "The 640 permanent and casual employees in our 47 stores, head office and central warehouse already know that this is a great place to work, but it's wonderful to be publicly recognized for our human resource programs and benefits. Much of our success can be attributed to the longstanding successful relationship with CUPE 963."
Alcool NB Liquor was chosen by the editorial team at MediaCorp, and was recognized for numerous employee benefits, including helping employees save for retirement with a defined benefit pension plan and matching RSP contributions; paying maternity leave top-up payments (to 75 per cent of salary for 15 weeks) to new mothers, and providing a range of alternative working arrangements when they return to work; offering a self-funded leave program that lets employees defer a portion of their salary and take extended time off (up to one year) with pay; and supporting ongoing education by covering the full cost of tuition, with no annual maximum, for employees completing courses at outside institutions.
Alcool NB Liquor also offers an annual vacation allowance of three weeks, 100 per cent employer-paid health plan, and life and disability insurance for all employees.
According to Mediacorp, this special designation is a unique project that recognizes employers in the four Atlantic provinces, who lead their industries by offering exceptional places to work.
Alcool NB Liquor is a Crown corporation with annual sales of $379.6 million, a network of 47 retail stores, 70 licensed agency partners, 640 employees, and more than 1,950 regular listed products. The corporation's vision is to be recognized as a high-performance retailer engaging employees in service excellence, while responsibly hosting New Brunswick's beverage alcohol experience.
