MONCTON (CNB) - The renovated NB Liquor store at 936 Mountain Rd. in Moncton was officially opened today.

Among those attending were Local Government Minister Chris Collins; Richard Smith, NB Liquor senior vice-president; and René Landry, a Moncton councillor.

"This newly renovated store provides the residents of Moncton with a modern store that features NB Liquor's new retail merchandising plan," said Dana Clendenning, president and chief executive officer, NB Liquor. "The new store layout is designed to showcase a modern retail merchandising concept that creates interior destinations. This approach provides a customer-friendly shopping experience and better use of retail floor space."

The store covers 944 sq. m (10,163 sq. ft.) and features 1,600 products, including 770 brands of wine and 520 brands of spirits. The 219-sq.-m (2,357-sq.-ft.) walk-in cold room offers 200 chilled beer brands and 110 ready-to-drink beverage brands. A 2.4-m (eight-ft.) My World of Beer main floor display features the imported beer section.

Other innovative changes include new low maintenance flooring, product and local historical mood pictures, new racking in the cold room and split-end aisle displays providing better display options.

The store employs nine full-time and 12 casual staff, and is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. The store is closed on Sundays.

"The renovation of this store is the latest example of how NB Liquor is moving toward its vision of becoming a high-performance retailer, engaging employees in service excellence," said Clendenning.
