MONCTON (CNB) - The Province of New Brunswick will assist Asurion Canada Inc. with the most recent expansion to its Moncton facility, Tourism and Parks Minister Joan MacAlpine announced today. She made the announcement at a news conference at the facility, along with Asurion Senior Vice-President of Claims Management Jaye Thomas.

"Asurion has been an asset to the New Brunswick business community since it established its Canadian operations in Moncton in 2001," MacAlpine said. "The government has been proud to partner with the company as it established hundreds of skilled, well-paying positions in our province. With this latest expansion, we will see another 300 jobs come to the Moncton region."

"Asurion has experienced tremendous growth over the last several years," Thomas said. "Our Moncton facility and the employees we have been able to hire in the New Brunswick area have been key to our continued growth."

The Province will provide Asurion with a forgivable loan of up to $900,000 for the creation of 300 jobs. As of today, about 200 of these positions are in place, and the remainder will be created by the end of 2006. The Moncton facility currently employs 640 people.

Asurion provides enhanced wireless services, such as roadside assistance and handset insurance services, to over 20 million wireless subscribers in North America. The Moncton facility houses the entire Canadian operation including customer care services fulfillment, administration and accounting.

Asurion was founded in 1994 and has more than 2,500 employees throughout the world, including North American offices in Moncton, Nashville, Houston, Dallas, and San Mateo, with international offices in Korea, Japan and Singapore.
