SAINT-ANDRÉ (CNB) - The provincial government will provide Laforge Doors Ltd. with a $500,000 term loan to assist with the purchase and installation of new equipment, Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne announced today.

Byrne made the announcement today in Saint-André accompanied by company president Pat Laforge, Local Service District of Saint-André Mayor Lionel Poitras, and Enterprise Grand Falls Region General Manager François Picard.
"We are proud to partner with this innovative and successful company which is choosing to grow its operation here in Saint-André," Byrne said. "Today's announcement demonstrates our government's commitment to economic development and to the manufacturing industry in our province, which accounts for 15 per cent of our province's GDP each year. Our government is putting New Brunswick on a road to self-sufficiency by investing in this sector and helping it to create more employment in all regions."
"Laforge Doors is very grateful for this opportunity to expand our operation," Laforge said. "We have been working on automating our production line for some time now in order to improve production capacity and manufacture a variety of models. This industry requires us to deliver our products quickly, and we must meet tight deadlines. With the government's support we will be better able to meet our customers' needs."
The $500,000 term loan will enable the company to install a new automated line which will help it to increase productivity, lower operating costs and meet a rising demand for its product. With the new equipment and increased capacity, the company plans to create up to 75 new jobs over the next three years. The company currently has 40 employees at its Saint- André operation.
