FREDERICTON (CNB) - Several announcements and speaking engagements in support of New Brunswick entrepreneurs will be made by Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne in observance of National Small Business Week, Oct. 19-25.
"I look forward to participating in the opening and expansion of new businesses in the province, and detailing Business New Brunswick's strategies to help New Brunswick businesses be more competitive and successful right here in our province," Byrne said.
Byrne will participate in job creation announcements and several visits to small businesses. He will also make several speeches detailing Business New Brunswick's strategies for helping small businesses.
"The success of our 26,000 small businesses plays an integral role in our economy, and in our plans for achieving self-sufficiency," Byrne said. "During this week, I will travel throughout the province to listen to the needs of small business owners and to detail our plans for helping businesses in New Brunswick."
During National Small Business Week, Byrne will participate in activities in Fredericton, Bathurst, Sussex, Shediac and Moncton.
In addition, Business New Brunswick will host the fourth annual Innovation Recognition banquet on Oct. 20. Fifteen small businesses have been nominated for this honour by their local enterprise agencies because they have adopted innovation and have used it creatively in their day-to-day operations.
Since September 2006, the provincial government has supported 172 companies, helping them to create nearly 3,500 jobs and to maintain more than 10,000 jobs.
The Government of New Brunswick has been fulfilling its commitment to assist New Brunswick businesses by helping companies such as LuminUltra Technologies in Fredericton; TrustMe Securities and AL-PACK in Moncton; Prestige Homes in Sussex; Mariner Partners in Saint John; and Laforge Doors in Grand Falls.
