DIEPPE (CNB) - A Dieppe-based company, Nanoptix Inc. will expand its operation, creating 15 jobs, due in part to a provincial loan guarantee, Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne announced today.

"Today's announcement is another example of how we are collaborating with the private sector to help move New Brunswick toward self-sufficiency," said Byrne. "Supporting New Brunswick businesses to help them be more productive, more innovative and more competitive is one of the keys to helping our New Brunswick businesses grow."

The provincial government will provide Nanoptix Inc. with a $1.8-million loan guarantee that will be used as working capital to help the company continue its sales and marketing efforts. Nanoptix currently employs 34 people at its Dieppe facility.

"Nanoptix competes all over the world with export sales of 99 per cent, and knowing that we have the support of our provincial government makes us even stronger to aggressively execute our plans of rapid growth in the United States, Europe, Australia and Asia," said Daniel Vienneau, president of Nanoptix Inc. "Our clients clearly perceive New Brunswick products as technologically advanced with value-added offerings."

Since its inception in 1996, Nanoptix has been designing and manufacturing innovative thermal printer solutions for the gaming/lottery, point-of-sale and kiosk markets.

"New Brunswick is recognized worldwide as the place to be for business success," added Byrne. "Continuing to make strategic investments and cultivating partnerships such as this one today will help us achieve our goal of self-sufficiency by 2026."

The loan guarantee is the latest in a series of recent job creation announcements, including: 200 jobs at TD Home and Auto Insurance in Saint John; 230 jobs at Cooke Aquaculture in St. George; 10 jobs at AL-PACK in Moncton; and 50 jobs at Floating Pipeline Co. in Saint John.
