BERESFORD (CNB) - Twenty-three jobs will be created and another 42 will be maintained at five companies in the Chaleur region with support from the NB Growth program.
Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne made the announcement as part of his luncheon speech to the Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce.
"I am proud that our government is helping these companies maintain and create these positions in the Chaleur region," said Byrne. "As a government, we promised to help companies grow and succeed, and the tremendous accomplishment of the NB Growth program is proof that we are keeping this commitment. We will continue to work with New Brunswick businesses to help them be more productive, more competitive and more successful."
Business New Brunswick launched the program in October 2007, and its $3-million budget has already supported company start-ups and expansions in every region of the province.
"Small businesses create well-paying and sustainable jobs for the people of New Brunswick," said Byrne. "A self-sufficient New Brunswick depends on the strength of our provincial entrepreneurs, and it is clear today that they are continuing to grow and prosper in our province."
The program provides eligible entrepreneurs up to $100,000 to establish a new business and up to $60,000 to expand, diversify or improve productivity at an existing business.
"Government support will help give these companies a leading edge in their respective industries," added Byrne. "The modest investments made will help these companies leverage further funding. With the $3-million investment made in New Brunswick companies this year through the NB Growth program, companies have been able to leverage an additional $11.2-million, ensuring they have the tools necessary to succeed in New Brunswick."
