FREDERICTON (CNB) - Several announcements and speaking engagements by Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau in support of New Brunswick entrepreneurs will mark this year's Small Business Week in the province.
Small Business Week takes place from Oct. 18 - 24, during which Boudreau will participate in activities in Cap-Pelé, Bathurst, Grand Falls, Caraquet, Beresford, Saint John, and Moncton.
"I am pleased to celebrate the work of small businesses in New Brunswick, and spend this week meeting entrepreneurs from around the province," said Boudreau. "Business New Brunswick has been working to help companies be more successful here at home. I'm eager to share these strategies with our local businesses, and hear more about what our small business owners need to be even more competitive."
Boudreau will begin the week with a luncheon at Enterprise South East in Cap-Pelé on Monday, Oct 19. He will continue to tour the province, visiting small businesses, announcing new jobs, and promoting Business New Brunswick's strategy to help small businesses be more profitable and successful.
"Our 26,000 small businesses play an integral role in the success of our economy, and in our plans for achieving self-sufficiency," said Boudreau. "Our government has been doing all it can, including lowering corporate and personal income taxes, and investing significantly in technological infrastructure, to help companies such as these become more competitive and more profitable right here at home."
Business New Brunswick will also host the fifth annual Innovation Recognition banquet in Beresford on Oct. 19. Fifteen small businesses have been nominated by their regional Enterprise agencies to be honoured for their creative application of innovation in the day-to-day operations of their companies.
Boudreau said that since September 2006 the provincial government has fulfilled its commitment to assist new Brunswick businesses by supporting 187 companies, helping them create nearly 4,300 jobs and maintain more than 11,800 others.
