BERESFORD (CNB) - The provincial government is making an investment through the NB Growth program to help a Beresford campground expand.

Education Minister Roland Haché made the announcement today. He was joined by François and Carolle Guitard, owners of Parc d'Amusement et Camping Malybel inc.

"Supporting small companies such as Parc d'Amusement et Camping Malybel inc. is a crucial part of our province's economic growth strategy," said Haché. "These companies are a source of investment, employment and prosperity for our province, and this program, in particular, offers significant support to New Brunswick companies. We are proud to support one of this region's most successful small businesses as it continues to grow and improve its campground here in Beresford."

Haché was speaking on behalf of Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau.

Parc d'Amusement et Camping Malybel inc. is receiving $30,000 to help it improve the campground, creating four seasonal part-time jobs and maintaining four full-time positions.

"We are very happy to see the provincial government offer programs such as the NB Growth program as a financial resource," said François Guitard. "Our full-service campground has steadily grown during the years to incorporate 250 waterfront and wooded campsites as well as a swimming pool and playground facilities. We are happy to be able to live and work in Beresford, and we are eager to continue growing here at home."

Business New Brunswick recently announced changes to NB Growth that will widen eligibility and encourage more companies to apply for funding. Last month, the provincial government approved the following changes:

NB Growth was launched in October 2007 to provide eligible entrepreneurs up to $100,000 to establish a new business; and up to $60,000 to expand, diversify or improve productivity at an existing business. Since its inception, NB Growth has approved 139 projects worth $5,593,951.
