Bronze medals for Reid and Simpson

ALLIANCE LONDON (CNB) – New Brunswick picked up two more medals at the track tonight, with bronzes from triple jumper Stephany Reid (Riverview) and distance runner Scott Simpson (Sackville).  Here are the results for Team New Brunswick for Thursday night at the Canada Summer Games.


Athletics

 

Women’s triple jump (final) – Stephany Reid (Riverview) finished third with a jump of 12.59.

 

Men’s 10,000 m (final) – Scott Simson (Sackville) finshed third with a time of 31.25.88, Adam Stacey (Moncton) finished 12th with a time of 33.25.81

 

Men’s shot put (semi-final) – Rémi Aucoin (Moncton) finished seventh with a throw of 11.24 m, Jens Jeppeson (New Denmark) finished fifth with a throw of 11.54m

 

Men’s triple jump (semi-final) – Obi Ikejiani (Quispamsis) finished 17th with a jump of 12.18, Cary McNeil (Nauwigewauk) finished 11th with a jump of 13.29

 

Women’s 4x400 m relay (semi-final) –Erin Dixon (Saint John), Sylvie LeBlanc (Memramcook), Elizabeth McLatchie (Blacks Harbour), Donia Oumessour (Lincoln) finished sixth in the semi-final with a time of 49.96

 

Men’s 4x400 m relay (semi-final) – Phil Meikle (Moncton), Gabriel LeBlanc (Moncton), Dave Pelletier (Moncton), Adam Kellar (French Village) finished ninth with a time of 3:23.40.

 

Women’s discus (final) – Monica Lanteigne (Caraquet) finished 13th with a throw of 32.62 m, Denise Pelletier (Miramichi) finished 11th with a throw of 34.88 m

 

Women’s 1500 m (semi-final) – Amanda Bartlett (Hanwell) finished 14th with a time of 4:53.05, Jill Brennan (Fredericton) was eighth with a time of 4:50.41

 

Men’s 1500 m (semi-final) – Matt Brophy (Fredericton) finished 12th with a time of 4:05.04; Matt Stacey (Moncton) finished 17th with a time of 4:18.53.

 

Women’s 4x100 m relay (semi-final) – Sheena Teed (Saint John), Maryse Thériault (Paquetville), Isabelle Després (Cocagne), Erica Doucet (Dieppe), finished seventh with a time of 49.96.

 

Men’s 4x100 m relay (semi-final) – Remi Comeau (Dieppe), Gabriel LeBlanc (Moncton), Mathieu Arsenault (Rexton), Jean-Marc Daigle (Quispamsis) finished ninth with time of 44.17.

 

Women’s 10,000 m (final) – Lindsay Laltoo (Moncton) finished seventh with a time of 39.14.40, Charlene Snowdon (Wood Point) was ninth with a time of 42.56.32

 

Men’s 400 m hurdles – Renaud Guimond (St-Louis-de-Kent) was disqualified.

Tennis

 

Men’s doubles – Chris Lohnes (Hampton) and Yves Losier (Campbellton)  lost to PEI 6-4, 7-5.

 

Men’s singles – Willie Johnston (Rothesay) beat Jamie Waddell (PEI) 6-3, 6-2; Jonathan Pearson (Moncton) defeated Taylor Ferrier (PEI) in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.

 

Women’s doubles – Caroline Barry (Rothesay) and Mélanie Volpé (St-Jacques) defeated PEI 6-3, 6-0.

 

Women’s singles – Kaitlyn Barry (Rothesay) defeated Laurie Michael (PEI) 6-0, 6-2;

Michelle Brown (Quispamsis) defeated Mariam Esseghaier (PEI) 6-0, 6-2.

 

NB finishes in ninth place. 


Men’s volleyball (Fanshawe)

 

NB defeated Nova Scotia in three straight games, with scores of 32-30, 25-22, 25-19.  Philippe Anderson had 11 kills, 4 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces; Ben Bliss had 9 kills, 3 digs; Philippe Hébert had 2 kills, 5 digs; Jason Tucker had 6 kills.  NB plays Newfoundland at 14:00 in Woodstock for seventh place.
