FREDERICTON (CNB) - New Brunswickers can now learn more about the province's public libraries by visiting the new Web site of the New Brunswick Public Library Service.
Visitors to the site will find information about the public library system, the programs and activities offered at their local libraries, and the many services available free of charge to public library card holders.
"This site will make our public libraries even more accessible for New Brunswickers," Education Minister Dennis Furlong said. "It sends a clear message that our libraries are looking confidently to the future."
The launching of the new Web site is the first step by the Public Library Service toward offering a wide range of online services, such as a virtual reference library, access to the provincial catalogue, and online information resources. The new services should be available within a few months.
The site can be found at: http://www.gnb.ca/0003/NBPLS.htm.
It can also be accessed from the Department of Education Web site at: http://www.gnb.ca/education/branch.htm
