Public libraries now have new automated library system (06/01/13)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The New Brunswick Public Library Service has completed the installation of a new library automation system, Education Minister Madeleine Dubé announced today.

The Unicorn automated library system was installed to greatly enhance library service and better serve library patrons. The Unicorn system was set up between Dec. 19, 2005, and Jan. 2, 2006, and replaced the existing Inlex automated system.

"Improving access to public library services in New Brunswick is a key objective of our recently released policy statement, Lifelong Learning: Quality Adult Learning Opportunities," Dubé said. "We are very happy to be able to provide library users with a new automated library system that will increase access and efficiency and make our patrons' library experience even better."

Access to the new automated library system is available online at http://vision.gnb.ca/.

The New Brunswick public library system provides access to a provincial collection of more than 1.9 million items, as well as to programs, such as story hour and public lectures, and to services such as reference, inter-library loans and Internet access.
