FREDERICTON (CNB) - Educational celebrations begin Friday, April 16, at several French-language community schools across the province.
"Community involvement is being seen to an increasing degree in the academic success and development of each child," said Education Minister Roland Haché. "It is in this spirit of engagement that I encourage parents, grandparents, and community members once again to respond to the invitation from their community school to discover the projects of which the students are proudest."
During the annual celebrations, community schools open their doors to the public to present the main projects completed by students during the past academic year. The students complete the projects during their French, mathematics, science or other classes. Teachers and various community partners support the students in these endeavours.
Acadian and francophone community schools are based on a renewed alliance between the school and the community. The schools are encouraged to make the most of the children's potential through partnerships with the community and the private, public and volunteer sectors.
The community, in turn, is encouraged to take an active role in the academic success and the development of the cultural and linguistic identity of each student.
More information about francophone community schools is online (French only).
