FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following water level warning was issued by River Watch 2010 and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization on Saturday, April 10, 2010:
Water flows and levels along the St. John River basin will increase marginally over the next 24 hours in response to the precipitation received during the preceding 24-hour period.
Flood stage in the Jemseg area will be reached on Sunday, April 11, at 4.3 m and exceeded slightly on Monday, April 12, at 4.4 m. Motorists are cautioned that rising waters in this area may force wildlife to seek refuge on the higher ground of the highways and become a hazard to traffic.
Persons living and working along streams, tributaries and rivers are advised to continue to pay close attention to local water levels. Residents are advised to know the risks, make a plan, and prepare an emergency kit. Prepare now to help your family be safe.
The next report will be issued on Monday, April 12, 2010. More information is available at the River Watch 2010 website.
