River Watch 2010 / Water level warning (10/04/13)

NB 525

April 13, 2010

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following water level warning is issued by River Watch 2010 and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization on Tuesday, April 13, 2010:

Water flows and levels along the St. John River basin will continue to decline slowly over the next 48 hours in response to the weather forecast for the same period.

At Jemseg the water level will remain above flood level at 4.37 m today before declining to flood stage at 4.3 m tomorrow, April 14. Motorists are cautioned that the elevated water levels in this area may force wildlife to seek refuge on the higher ground of the highways and become a hazard to traffic.

Persons living and working along streams, tributaries and rivers are advised to continue to pay close attention to local water levels. Residents are advised to know the risks, make a plan, and prepare an emergency kit. Prepare now to help your family be safe.

The next report will be issued on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. More information is available at the River Watch 2010 website.
