Town of Bouctouche charged with violation of Clean Environment Act (08/10/02)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The Department of Environment has charged the Town of Bouctouche with a violation of the Water Quality Regulation of the Clean Environment Act.

The department alleges that between May 16 and May 23, the Town of Bouctouche failed to comply with a term or condition of its approval to operate the potable water distribution system. The town is scheduled to appear in Richibucto provincial court on Oct. 7.

Environment Minister Roland Haché encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
