SAINT-QUENTON (CNB) - A Saint-Quentin-area resident has been charged in provincial court with two violations of the Clean Water Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that between Aug. 31, 2006, and Dec. 31, 2006, Patrice Lebel of 5834, Route 17, Saint-Quentin, undertook a watercourse alteration without a permit issued by the minister of environment. The department further alleges that between June 21, 2007, and Aug. 21, 2007, Lebel failed to comply with a watercourse alteration order.

Lebel is scheduled to appear in Saint-Quentin provincial court on Nov. 13.

Environment Minister Roland Haché encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
