Edmundston mill charged with violating Clean Air Act (09/05/12)

EDMUNDSTON (CNB) - An Edmundston pulp and paper mill has been charged in Edmundston provincial court with a violation of the Clean Air Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that between May 5 and May 20, 2008, Fraser Papers Inc.-Papiers Fraser Inc. of 27 Rice St., caused or permitted a contaminant or class of contaminant to be released into the air, which caused damage to property. The company is scheduled to make its first appearance in court on May 13.

Environment Minister Roland Haché encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment, and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
