FREDERICTON (CNB) - Environment Minister Roland Haché today released the following message about Canadian Environment Week:
Canadian Environment Week is held during the first week of June to coincide with World Environment Day on June 5. World Environment Day was designated by the United Nations in 1972 to encourage political action on the environment, and empower people to become agents of sustainable development.
Protecting our natural environment contributes to a strong economy and enhances the health and quality of life for all New Brunswickers.
I encourage all New Brunswickers to do something to celebrate this important week. Canadian Environment week presents the opportunity to make simple changes that will lead to a greener province.
Here are a few examples of things we can all do to make New Brunswick a greener place:
By making a few small changes we can each make a big difference in the environmental sustainability of our province, and contribute to a self-sufficient New Brunswick by 2026.
