Minto-area company charged with violation of Clean Environment Act (09/06/23)

NB 889

June 23, 2009

FREDERICTON (CNB) - A Minto-area company is expected to make its first appearance in Burton Provincial Court on Monday, July 6, on a charge that it violated the Environmental Impact Assessment regulation of the Clean Environment Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that between July 22, 2008, and Aug. 27, 2008, NB Coal Ltd. of 12 Tower Road, Minto, started an undertaking before the minister of environment determined whether the company could carry out this undertaking without an environmental impact assessment.

Environment Minister T.J. Burke encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
