FREDERICTON (CNB) - A Fredericton-area company has been charged in Fredericton provincial court with a violation of the Water Quality Regulation - Clean Environment Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that on Feb. 19, 2009, Howorth Waste Services Inc. of 227 Fulton Ave., failed to comply with a term or condition of a water quality approval to operate. The company operates the wastewater collection and treatment system that services the Howorth Acres subdivision in Beaver Dam.

Representatives for the company are scheduled to make their first appearance in court on July 13, 2009.

Environment Minister T.J. Burke encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment, and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
