FREDERICTON (CNB) - Applications for funding under the Environmental Trust Fund (ETF) for 2010-11 are now being accepted until Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The ETF supports New Brunswick-based initiatives that restore, protect and improve air, land and water resources.
"The ETF is intended to help New Brunswickers practise environmental stewardship and promote environmental sustainability," said Environment Minister Rick Miles.
Several priorities for ETF funding for the upcoming fiscal year have been identified:
"Our government is strongly committed to promoting environmental sustainability and environmental stewardship in New Brunswick, and the ETF will help us do just that," Miles said. "To achieve self-sufficiency by 2026, New Brunswick must be proactive in fostering environmental sustainability so that our communities will continue to be healthy places to live, be attractive to residents, and be drivers of economic growth."
The ETF provides assistance to community groups, organizations, municipalities and business-improvement areas for projects that produce tangible, measurable benefits to the environment.
Application forms and additional information about the ETF, including priority areas, project criteria and the application review process, are online or are available by calling 506-444-2654.
