Mill charged with violating Clean Air Act (10/02/01)

NB 135

Feb. 1, 2010

CAMPBELLTON (CNB) - An Atholville mill will make its first court appearance on Feb. 8 in relation to a charge that it twice violated the Clean Air Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that on July 8, 2009, AV Cell Inc., 175 Mill Rd., Atholville, failed to comply with a term or condition of the company's air quality approval to operate.

The department further alleges that on July 14, 2009, the company caused or permitted the release into the air of a contaminant, or class of contaminant, that resulted in damage to property.

Environment Minister Rick Miles encourages New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations.
