Company charged with violation of Clean Water Act (10/02/17)

EDMUNDSTON (CNB) - An Edmundston forestry company and a Riceville landowner have both been charged in Edmundston Provincial Court with a violation of the Watershed Protected Area Designation Order under the Clean Water Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that between Sept. 1, 2008 and Jan. 31, 2009 Levesque Forest Product Inc. of 23 rue Deschamps, Edmundston and Luc Landry of 747 ch. Riceville, Riceville, undertook a prohibited clear-cut activity within the Felix Martin Protected Watershed.

They are scheduled to make their first appearance in court on Feb. 24.

Environment Minister Rick Miles encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations.
