MIRAMICHI (CNB) - Ace Enterprises Ltd. has pleaded guilty in Miramichi Provincial Court to a charge that it violated the Air Quality Regulation of the Clean Air Act. Judge J. Friel imposed a $1,200 fine.

The company, of 309 Bridge Rd., Miramichi, was charged by the Department of Environment with failing to comply with a term or condition of an air quality approval to operate the facility.

The approval required that all chemicals used at the facility be stored in a dedicated chemical storage system. Several inspections during the summer of 2009 determined that no such system was in place. A final inspection on Oct. 9, 2009, determined that a box of a half- ton truck was being used for chemical storage, which was a violation of the conditions of the approval.
